Tethered

Inspired by human connection and technology, “Tethered” investigates themes of love, freedom, attachment dynamics and the internal battle between our demon and daemon - our inner source of positivity, potential, and goodness.

In this limited series of contemporary metal sculptures, the twisted and formed steel ribbons invite viewers to marvel at its seemingly impossible structure. Individual components appear suspended in a delicate balance, evoking feelings of tranquility amidst a magical air of weightlessness. 

The use of opposing curves mirrors the emotional pull of two souls yearning for both closeness and autonomy, alluding to our obsession with devices and growing lack of joy in our daily lives. This depiction of emotion and struggle is something relatable and woven throughout our daily lives - intimacy versus independence, vulnerability versus resiliency, tethered versus untethered. 

Choosing curiosity over judgment, waking our inner daemon, these intertwining forms reflect our struggle to acknowledge and quiet the negative voices holding us back, and instead, recognize our inherent talents and virtues we possess to bring good into the world.
