Polygon Flight (AP)

Childhood memories of running with a kite in tow is the inspiration for this series. What seemed to be an impossible task turned fruitful with one last tug into the wind, granting the wonder and magic of flight. These playful shapes dance and flutter upwards appearing almost weightless.

This 1 of 1 Artist Proof is made from weathering steel offering a rich, textured and warm natural patina finish. 

Sand blasted for texture and to remove the steel's mill scale, the piece was then patiently moved through a multi-step patina process.

1. torch heating until arid dry
2. bathed in patina solution
3. rinsed clean
4. repeat X 20

This process builds a unique and naturally forming protective rust oxide layer, aging the appearance of material by 5-8 years in a matter of hours.
